Macdonald, Mary Jessie

-

On January 16, 2020, our aunt, Mary ‘Jessie’ Macdonald, 92 passed away peacefully at Harbourstone Enhanced Care where she was a resident since 2008. Our heartfelt thank you to the staff of Miners Lane for their incredible care during her stay. Jessie was very proud of her long office career at Cape Breton Dairy (later Scotsburn), along with working the gate at Tartan Downs. Before entering Harbourstone, Jessie was a dedicated member of St. Theresa’s parish and CWL in Sydney. She loved fiddle music, enjoyed whiskey on ice, and had a special place in her heart for her beloved childhood home in Blacketts Lake. Jessie was the daughter of the late James J. and Catherine Macdonald and the last surviving member of a family of six; Neil J. and Gertrude (both died in early childhood), Kay, Duncan, and Neil H. She was also predeceased by her sister-in-law, Phyllis. ‘Dit’ is survived by nephew, James; nieces, Adele (Rodney Dominey) and Melissa (Tony Langlois); and grandnephew, Camdon Langlois; as well as three nephews in Boston. Visitation will be from 6-9 on Monday, January 20 at TW Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00a.m. on Tuesday, January 21 at St. Mary’s Church in East Bay with Fr. Anthony O’connor. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery will take place at a later date. Memories and condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.twcurry.com. If desired, donation may be made to either of the above parishes which were both dear to Jessie’s heart.
