KELLOWAY, Mary

-

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Kelloway of Donkin, at the age of 92. Mary passed peacefully away on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at the Glace Bay Hospital, with her daughter, Shelly by her side. Born in Glace Bay, NS, Mary was the daughter of Reuban and Amy Morford. She will be sadly missed by her three sons, James (Mary), Glace Bay, Charles (Lynn) Kelloway, Donkin, Winston Kelloway, Marconi Towers, and son-in-law, Gerard Lee, Cole Harbour. Also left to mourn are her two daughters, Shelly (Keith) Boutilier, Port Morien, and Wanda Kelloway, Donkin. She was also a proud great-grandmother to eleven great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly, James, Mallory, Mia, Cruz, Laughlin, Jack, Sylvie, Paige, Miguel, Delilah and Rucker. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews and their families, all who loved and appreciated her special sense of humour. Mary was a loving grandmother to eleven grandchildren, Cheryl Donko, Leanne Pettipas, Mathew and Lisa Boutilier, Danielle Lehman, Katie MacDonald, Scott Lee, Blair Kelloway, Amanda and Adam Kelloway, Emily Kelloway; also, two step-grandchildren, Helen and David Janes, and their children, Alexandra Hanrahan and Hannah, and Abby Janes. Mary was a long-time member of Past Noble Queen Victoria Rebekah Lodge in her earlier years. She attended Day Hospital two days a week in later years, where she made many friends who enjoyed her quick wit and humour! She loved her Bingo and came home happy; win or lose! There was always a jigsaw puzzle on the go at her house; one of her favourite pastimes. Mary loved to tell stories of her days bringing up six children, having all who listened in stitches! She always said, “I could write a book”. Well, her book is now completed, etched in the memories and hearts of her children and the many friends and family who came for “tea”. The teapot was always on, the kitchen filled with laughter as Mary told her tales! Mary was predeceased by her husband, Charlie Kelloway; her dear daughter, Cindy Lee, and her two daughters-in-law, Debbie Kelloway and Terri Lee Kelloway. Mary was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Predeceased by one brother, Victor and sisters, Iris, Ollie, Ruby, Amy, Rosie and Gloria; three siblings in infancy. A Special thank you to the Staff of 3-A, Cape Breton Regional Hospital; Staff of 3-S, at The Glace Bay Hospital, as well as Dr. M Ellerker and Dr. M Keating; and to VON and Homecare Nova Scotia.
