MUNROE, Elsie Mae

-

We, the family of the late Elsie Mae Munroe, regret to announce her peaceful passing on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at home (Macgillivray Guest Home). Born May 1, 1927, in Sydney, she wa s the daughter of the late Cecil and Sarah Belle (Mackay) Ludlow. Mom’s passion for many years was her community, Fourchu. She was an active member and elder of Fourchu United Church, and long-time president of the UCW. She took great pride in any community events where you could usually find her in the kitchen, where she was in her glory. The same can be said for all visitors at her home. When you came down the lane you were welcomed with open arms, a fresh pot of tea, and lots of homemade goodies. Elsie is survived by her daughter, Colleen (Don Neil) Maccormick, Coxheath; sons, Donnie (Marilyn), Sydney, Ian (Wendy), Dutch Brook and Scott (Leanne), Marion Bridge; grandchildren, Derrick (Janel), Erin (Jeff), Jeff (Mandy), Amber (Craig), Raymond (Shar), Liane (M.J), Riley and Josh; greatgrandchildren, Rita, Rory, Calum, Ruby, Avery, Lyla, Josie, Bret, Mataya, Ryan, Cally, Megan; and great-great-grandchild, Aycen. She was predeceased by her husband, John Archie; daughter, Sarah Anne; and sister, Pearl Morris. Mom’s time at MGGH was cherished. She was treated like The Queen by all staff, and was president of the resident council until the time of her passing. Words cannot express how grateful we are for the love and care she was given by everyone. Through her time at MGGH, Mom looked forward to her daily phone calls and visits from faithful friends and family, near and far, whom she loved dearly. Due to Covid19 restrictions a celebration of Mom’s life will be held at a later date. Interment will take place in Zion Cemetery, Gabarus Lake. Memorials may be made to the Macgillivray Guest Home Foundation. Words of comfort can be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca or e-mail sydneymemorialchapel@ns.sympatico.ca.
