SYDNEY — A Sydney Mines man who was the subject of three arrest warrants has again been released on conditions and assigned trial dates on a host of offences.

The warrants were issued after Raymond Shawn Daniel Leroy, 42, of MacAulay’s Lane failed to show in provincial court and Supreme Court for scheduled hearings. He appeared on his own earlier last week in provincial court and was released on conditions after receiving new court dates.

Leroy is now scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 21 on a single count of breaching a court order.

He is also scheduled to stand trial in provincial court Jan. 21 on three counts of uttering threats and a single count of breaching a court order.

He is also scheduled to have a preliminary on that date on two counts of aggravated assault, three counts of breaching court orders, and single counts of break and enter, using a firearm in committing an offence (shotgun), possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of a weapon while prohibited.

The offences are alleged to have occurred Dec. 22 at an apartment on Barrington Street in Sydney Mines.

Leroy is now to stand trial in Supreme Court May 18-20 on a charge of arson in connection with a June 23, 2018, fire at a home, owned by the accused, on Blowers Street in North Sydney.

Among the conditions of his release, Leroy is to have no contact with four people, he is not to possess any weapons and refrain from drugs, he’s not to appear intoxicated in public and is to report, twice a week, in person to Cape Breton Regional Police. He is also to abide by a curfew.
