It is with great sadness that we, the family of Gladys Drover, announce her passing on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at her daughter’s residence. Mom was born to the late William and Charlotte (Macdonald) Currie in Rose Blanche, Newfoundla­nd. When Mom moved to Cape Breton for work, she met her future husband of 50 years, Elias Drover. Mom enjoyed a good game of cards, loved BINGO, played darts, was an avid bowler and was a life member of the ladies auxillary with 37 years of service, but the most favourite thing she loved was cooking for her family. Gladys is survived by her daughters, Josephine Mackeigan, Coxheath and Diane Drover, Whitney Pier; son, Elias (Gail), Westmount; grandchild­ren, Willie, Ernie, Michelle, Joel and Nancy; great-grandchild­ren, Logan, Landon, Tailor, Bethany, Shaylynn, Mackenna, Layton and Dawson; special greatgreat-granddaugh­ter, Charlee Rose; sister, Josephine Robinson, Port Morien; and daughterin-law, Debbie Drover. She was predecease­d by her husband, Elias; son, Billy; sister, Catie Loder; and brothers, Matthew, Wallace and James. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Monday, August 3 from 2-5 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday, August 4 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Brenda Drake officiatin­g. Interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County.
