We, the family of Marjorie Mary Detheridge, regret to announce her peaceful passing on Sunday, October 4, 2020, at home with family by her side. Born February 23, 1943, in Grand Anse, Marjorie was the daughter of the late John and Rachel ( MacDonald) Murray. Raised in Oban, Richmond County, she grew up on the family farm, where she loved fishing in “her” brook. For many years, Mom ran the family business, Busy Beaver Hardwood. She had a love for all animals, especially her cat, Archie and looked forward to her daily drives with Dad. She is survived by her husband, George; daughters, Nancy Detheridge, Sydney, Norma (Paul) Langlade, Guysboroug­h and Virginia (Greg) Hann, Sydney; sons, George (Lauren), Calgary, Gregory (Tracey), New Waterford and Brian (Amanda), Truro; grandchild­ren, Chelsea, Katrina, Ashley, Brianna, Emma, Gregory, Abigail, George and Kaighley; great-grandchild­ren, Samuel, Addilyn, Embree and Olivia; sisters, Bonnie (the late Bill) Hines, Antigonish, Pauline (the late Arthur) Matthews, River Bourgeois, Sheri (the late Roy) Brown, New Waterford and Dorothy MacLean, Toronto; sister-in-law, Caroline MacLean, Antigonish; brother-in-law, Brian Stevenson, Annapolis Valley; and lifelong friend, Mary Stonehouse. Besides her parents, Marjorie was predecease­d by her grandson, Neil; sisters, Alice (the late Neil Dan) Beaton and Jean Stevenson; and brothers, Gerald MacLean, Jimmy Samson and Peter Samson. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses in palliative care, as well as the VON. Your exceptiona­l care has meant so much. A private family service will be held with Rev. Peter Rafuse officiatin­g. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday, October 9 from 3-5 p.m. A private family interment will take place in St. Mark’s Cemetery, Coxheath at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Mark’s Cemetery Fund or a charity of your choice.
