LOCAL MPS CALLED OUT FOR LACK OF SUPPORT

-

This is the second request regarding this topic and we sincerely hope Cape Breton’s two MPs answer this time.

The Nova Scotians for Equalization Fairness (NSEF) is wondering how you are doing with the presentation that was prepared for you to share in Ottawa. To refresh your memories, it was regarding equalization and how Cape Breton is being used to generate billions each year for the Nova Scotia provincial government.

You both asked that we do this for you and you have had it for some time now. We paid to have the presentation prepared (we are basically doing your job) and we now want to know with whom you have shared it in Ottawa?

The NSEF has the capability to track the analytics on all our presentations and we see that those in opposition have shared it throughout the country but we are not seeing the same with regards to our Members of Parliament. Why?

The seriousness of the situation is paramount in the pursuit of fairness for the citizens of Cape Breton. We cannot fight this battle without the engagement of our federal representatives. We elected you on your promises and now you are silent on these important issues. Cape Breton needs strong representation in Ottawa to help address the issues that Cape Breton is dealing with daily because of an abusive relationship with our provincial government. A simple statement from the parliamentary library is not sufficient.

We want to speak now to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, David Lametti, as he also refuses to answer serious questions. Please request a meeting with Lametti for us and keep us advised on the request.

We want both MPs addressing this issue. To date we are only seeing Mike Kelloway replying to the various emails, etc. We elected two MPs for this island, and we want both to engage on this topic. Perhaps Mr. Battiste could answer this email to give Mr. Kelloway a break from backlash from the public.

Again gentlemen, this is a serious issue and is almost criminal in behavior. It is time that the parties involved get to the table to have, in Mike Kelloway’s word, “open dialogue” about the unfairness that Cape Breton has faced for decades now.

Rev. Dr. Albert Maroun Sydney (on behalf of Nova Scotians for Equalization Fairness)
