Russell Clarkson of Listowel, Ontario, formerly of Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener, on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at the age of 76 years. Husband of Patricia Lefler-clarkson. Father of Jason & Tanya Clarkson of Florence, N.S., Justin & Cheryl Clarkson of Sydney Mines, N.S., Jeffery & Michelle Clarkson of North Sydney, N.S., Nicole & Darcy Greydanus of Stratford, Angie & Shawn Christense­n of Palmerston, and Laura Dirksen of Burlington. Grandfathe­r of Ella Grace, Emily, Michaela, David, Ashley, Cole, Scarlett, Chole, Josh, Jordan, Jacob, Christa, and Samantha.brother of Bobby Clarkson of Grande Prairie, Alberta, and Beth Clarkson of Birmingham, Alabama. Predecease­d by his parents, Russell & Mildred (Stevenson) Clarkson; brother Harvey Clarkson, and sister Elaine Eikman. Russell was born in Florence, Nova Scotia where he worked as a locomotive engineer with Canadian National Railway. During his career on the railroad Russell enjoyed every opportunit­y to take his sons, nieces and nephew on the train for short rides. He was an avid sports fan and had a love of baseball and hockey, especially the Toronto Maple Leafs, and loved attending Blue Jays games. He loved to travel especially to the Dominican Republic. Russell retired and resided in Listowel where he was a familiar face in the community. He was known for his friendly sarcasm and for taking any opportunit­y to make a wise crack at anyone in his company. Russell enjoyed his time at the racetrack with Pat and evening coffee runs to Tim Hortons. Private family arrangemen­ts entrusted to the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel.
