ROBERTSON, Flossie

-

With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Flossie (Falconer) Robertson on January 13, 2021. Born in Sydney, NS, on August 19, 1921, Flossie was the daughter of the late Thomas Falconer and Eliza (Burge) of Franklin Street, Whitney Pier. Her parents immigrated from Bonavista, Colony of Newfoundland in 1910. She was the 7th child of 9 children born into a kind and generous Salvation Army household. Flossie was predeceased by all her siblings: William Jobe “Joe” (Else), Benaiah “Ben” (Annie Currie), Amos (Catherine), Pearl (Jack McCann), Amelia “Minnie” (George Nichol), Violet (Earl Wilson), Leroy “Roy” (Mary McInnis) and Blanche (Norman Burton). Flossie lived life to the fullest. After employment with McCurdy Clothing store on Charlotte St. during the 1950’s, she was hired by NS Scotia Power Corp and was recognized with a gold pin for 25 years of service. Whether she was at work or at home, she did not believe in half measures. She gave 100% to everything; whether it be sewing, knitting, crocheting, baking, bowling or supporting others. She belonged to the Sydney River United Protestant Church and UCW as well the IODE Louisbourg Chapter. She was a loving mother and devoted wife. Flossie possessed a generous heart that had a positive impact on everyone she met. We will miss her singing the songs of old, dancing in the kitchen, her reassuring hugs, her captivating smile, her infectious laugh, and especially her wonderful sense of humour that was always accompanied by that mischievous sparkle in her eye. Anyone who knew Flossie knew she made the world a better place. Memories of her spirit and warmth will always be with us and her love will live on in our hearts forever. Flossie is predeceased by her husband, Thomas and her son, Dwight. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Thomas (Betty), David (Donalda); daughter-in-law Diana, and daughter Amber (Bruce). Nanny was an inspiration to all of her grandchildren: Sherry (Laurie), David (Christie), Jon, Rodney (Ayumi), Lesley (Tom), Deindre (Niki), Tasha (Dominique), Christopher (Lindsay); Cheratien, Josh (Brittany) and many great-grandchildren. She loved them all. We would like to express our gratitude to Margaret Smith and all the staff of MacGillivray Guest Home for their loving and excellent care. There will be no visitation or service at this time. Condolences can be sent to www.sydneycremation.ca and donations can be made to the MacGillivrary Guest Home or charity of your choice.
