We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of Michael “Mike” Cabot (58) at the ICU of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on January 13th, 2021, surrounded by his family. Mike was born in Sydney and raised in Eskasoni to parents Mary Rose “Milos” and Frank S. Cabot, both deceased. Mike was a kind and friendly man who was a great story teller and always had a smile on his face when greeting friends. He loved his children and grandchild­ren so much that he lit up the room when speaking of them. Mike was an expert carpenter for over 25 years and was a part of the Cape Breton Carpenters Union. He loved building homes and steps for his community of Eskasoni. He was a Volunteer Firefighte­r for the Eskasoni Fire Dept. for many years. Mike also enjoyed playing cards and dice with his LCR crew and going for scenic drives. He is survived by his wife, Elaine, of Eskasoni; children, Gabriel “Gub” SylliboyCa­bot, Sarah Denny (Chico), Frank Cabot (Arielle), Michael Cabot Jr., Julie Cabot, all of Eskasoni and Ellen Christmas (Curtis) of Membertou; grandchild­ren, Khrissa, Kaeden, Breah and Gub Jr. of Wekoqmaq; Lauren, Aleigh, Devon, Marren, Logan, Chico Jr, Hayden, Hayley, Deshawn, April, Addyson, Garcia, Julien and Jordan, all of Eskasoni; Curtis Jr, Chase and Lainee of Membertou; Christine and Ira of Wagmatcook; and great-grandchild­ren, Aeona and Marceline, of Eskasoni. He is also survived by his brothers; Andrew “Gubou” Cabot, Colin Cabot (Sheila), Frank Cabot, Kelvin Cabot (Elena), Albert Cabot (Cornelia), and Richard Cabot, all of Eskasoni; as well as numerous godchildre­n, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, in-laws and many good friends. He was predecease­d by his sister, Elizabeth Young; granddaugh­ters, Faith and Sage; godmother, Caroline Paul-Oakley and godson, Michael Paul. Due to COVID public gatherings and wakes are not permitted at this time. A family Funeral Mass will take place at Holy Family Church in Eskasoni at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021 with Fr.
