HUNLEY, Mildred Allene Bras d’Or

With heavy hearts, the family of Mildred Allene Hunley, wishes to announce her passing at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Friday, February 26, 2021, at the age of 98. Mildred, “Millie,” but most fondly known as “Aunt Millie” by her family, was born in Bras d’Or on March 21, 1922.She was the daughter of the late Alexander and Lillian (Colvey) Hunley, she grew up and lived most of her life in the family home in Bras d’Or. Millie had a love and respect for nature. Millie was an avid Bridge player and enjoyed any card game with family and friends. She treasured the many summer days she spent in Ingonish with her friend, Emerson Henderson. Millie resided in Parkland for the past year where she made many friends, including her best friend, Hattie Cashin. In Millie’s immediate family, left to celebrate her life are her daughter, Paula Warner (Alex), Port Hawkesbury, sister, Rosella MacDonald (Conrad), Sydney Mines, and her sister-inlaw, Laura Hunley, Thunder Bay, Ontario. Several nieces and nephews will miss her dearly. She adored and spoke very highly of all of them. Besides her parents Millie was predecease­d by her siblings, Harry (Ann), Cecil, Lloyd, Elizabeth (Dean), and Rosella Jane (who died as a child). Funeral arrangemen­ts are under the care of JM Jobes Funeral Home in Sydney Mines. There will be no visitation. A celebratio­n of Mildred’s life will be held at St. Joseph’s Church in Bras d’Or on Wednesday, March 3rd at 11 a.m. with Fr. Michel Exalant and Fr. Duaine Devereaux officiatin­g.
