DILNEY, Brenda Ann Howie Centre

-

We, the family, regret to announce the passing of Brenda Ann Dilney at her residence on March 5, 2021. Born and raised in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late William and Eleanor (Jerritt) Pottie. Brenda worked her entire career at the Bank of Montreal, in customer service and financial planning. She always enjoyed helping others and had a sharp mind for business. Her first love was always her family and she enjoyed any opportunity to be with her brothers and sisters, son and daughter, and extended family. Brenda was private, generous, and compassionate, with an amazing smile and intuition. She never wanted anyone to fret about her, but in turn was an amazing mother and grandmother, never forgetting a birthday or special event. Brenda always wanted to make every milestone special in some small way for her family. She was always active, wanting to share in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. An unexpected world traveller, she crossed the globe to celebrate life with her immediate family and be with them. Brenda is survived by her son, Shaun; daughter-in-law, Dao; son-in-law, David; sisters, Sandra, Elizabeth and Sylvia; brothers, William, John, Gerald, Robert and Brian; grandchildren, Cameron, Liam, Tessa and Jennylee; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Paula, one of her best friends, who could always bring a smile to her face. Paula left us recently after a brave battle with cancer and there is some small comfort knowing they’re reunited to share a story, a laugh, and an embrace. A private funeral service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel. Interment will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to one’s charity of choice. Words of comfort may be sent to www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca or emailed to sydneymemorialchapel@ns.sympatico.ca.
