ANDREWS, Fredrick

-

“Happiness is not by chance, but by choice”

After a brief illness, it is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Fred Andrews. Born in Sydney N.S., Fred grew up in the shadow of the Great Depression and World War II. He moved to Toronto Ontario in 1954 with his bride Mary (nee O’leary 1931-2014) to make the most of his potential and opportunities for their family. With ambition, determination and hard work he built a successful State Farm Insurance Agency in North York. His goal was always to do right by his family because in his words; “Family is the most important thing”. Fred was proud of his community activity. He was a founder and long time leader of both his church, St. Matthew the Apostle Oriole and the North York Minor Hockey League. When he retired he and Mary focused on helping their family grow and thrive. His optimism, encouragement and 100% positivity will be missed by his children, Sharon (Darrell), Kathleen, Rick (Kathy), Robyn (Joe), and Gayle (Scott). Grandpa will be sorely missed by 11 grandchildren and 9 greatgrandchildren. Fred is survived by his brothers, Ross (Dorothy) and Val (Lois) and predeceased by 4 brothers and 2 Sisters. Due to the current provincial restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic a private memorial service will be held for the family. You are welcome to join the family virtually though a livestream of the service. Details of the service and how to join will be posted here shortly. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Transplant Program, at Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Please visit www.tgwhf.ca/tribute or call 416-603-5300.
