The family of Anne Ojoleck Crisp announce her passing on March 12, 2021 at Inverary Manor, Inverness, Cape Breton in her 95th year. Born in Whitney Pier, she was the youngest child of the late Michael and Irene (Bobyk) Ojoleck and was very proud of her Ukrainian heritage. Anne was well known as a hairdresse­r. Her career spanned over 50 years. In 1952 she opened the Isle Royal Beauty Salon in Sydney. In 1968 she and her husband George opened Crisp’s Beauty Salon in Port Hawkesbury. She continued to operate both until her retirement in 1999. During this time, she establishe­d lifelong friendship­s with many of her clientele and was well regarded for her knowledge and expertise. She was a celebrated stylist and enjoyed participat­ing and frequently winning, competitio­ns throughout the Maritimes, Detroit, Ontario, New York and London, England. Anne is survived by her loving son, Charles Crisp and his wife, Jo-anne, Ottawa; nieces, Donna (Charles) Collins, Tantallon, Carol (Tom) Sampson, Ingonish, Marilyn (Ken) Bates, Sydney; nephews, Robert (Kathy) Ojolick, Coxheath, Donald (Pat) Ojoleck, Niagara Falls, Michael (Etel) Ojoleck Judique; many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. Anne was predecease­d by her husband, George M. Crisp (formerly of Toronto); brothers, John (Emma), William (Stephanie), Harry (Agnes) and sister, Mary, all of Whitney Pier. The family would like to express our gratitude for the love and support shown to Anne, especially by her dear friend, Roy MacKinnon. Special thanks to her physicians and to the nurses, LPN’s and Home Care staff in Port Hastings, Strait Richmond Hospital and Inverary Manor. Cremation has taken place. A private family burial will take place at Forest Haven Cemetery in Sydney when pandemic restrictio­ns permit. Donations in Anne’s remembranc­e may be made to Strait Richmond Hospital or the Nova Scotia Chapter of Children’s Wish Foundation.
