Accused robbers released on conditions


SYDNEY — Three men charged in connection with two convenienc­e store robberies have been released on conditions.

Charged are William James Capstick, 19, of Main Street, Sydney Mines; Phillip Darius White, 18, Black Rock Road; and Jaden Kyle Michael Walsh, 18, Park Road, Florence.

All three accused are charged with two counts of robbery, and single counts of wearing a mask in committing an offence, and carrying a weapon dangerous to public peace.

The charges result from two holdups on March 13 at Circle K locations in Howie Centre and North Sydney. In addition to taking cigarettes and consumable goods, $140 was taken in the Howie Centre heist. The amount of money stolen from the North Sydney location is unknown.

As well, all three are charged with five counts of break and enter in connection with damages reported March 14 at Cape Breton Trailer Sales in Bras d'Or.

Among their conditions of release, the three men are to have no contact with each other and are to refrain from alcohol and drugs not prescribed to them. There are also to stay away from the two convenienc­e stores and the trailer sales outlet. They are also to remain under house arrest unless accompanie­d by the individual­s who posted their bail.

All three are now scheduled back in provincial court April 15 to enter pleas.
