BENOIT, Mabel Eileen North Sydney

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmothe­r and great-grandmothe­r, Mabel Eileen Benoit, age 83, on Monday March 22, 2021 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Harbour Breton, Newfoundla­nd on June 26, 1937, Mabel was the daughter of the late George and Sarah (Moore) Bugler. She was employed for over twenty years as a custodian with the Northside Victoria School Board at Thompson Junior High School. Mabel loved baking and cooking, well known for her corned beef and cabbage dinners. She enjoyed having people visit and entertaini­ng family and friends at her home, also her outings on Thursday nights to the North Sydney Fire Hall. Mabel was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church. Mabel is survived by her sons, Alec (Gwen), Truro and Joe (Melody), Calgary; grandchild­ren, Brian, Michael, Steven (Rhiannon) and Lori; great-grandchild­ren, Jace, Morgan, Ryleigh, Zachary and Lennon; sister-in-law, Helen Bugler, St. John’s; a number of nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mabel was predecease­d by her husband, Fred Benoit; sister, Lottie (Richard) Vallis; brothers, Alec (Margaret) Bugler and Clayton Bugler. Visitation for Mabel will be held 7-9 p.m. Friday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney, followed by a family prayer service with Rev. Jackie Warren officiatin­g. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Online condolence­s may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com.
