League announces award winners, all-stars

SYDNEY — The Nova Scotia Under-16 ‘AAA' Hockey League unveiled its annual award winners and all-star team for the 2020-21 season on Tuesday.

Zachary Jenkins and Devon Francis, both of the ChiroCare Kings of Sackville, were the league's leading scorers.

HC of Dartmouth was named the top forward, while Will Harrison of the Fundy Thunder took home the top defenceman honours. Kenneth Fisher of the ChiroCare Kings was named the league's top goaltender.

Francis, the brother of former Cape Breton Eagle and current Calgary Flames prospect Ryan Francis, finished the season with 13 goals and 32 points in 19 games. Meanwhile, Jenkins, a forward, had 16 goals and 32 points in 21 games.

Langlois finished third in the league scoring race with 15 goals and 25 points in 20 games, while Harrison was 16th on the list with six goals and 17 points in 21 games.

Fisher completed the season with a 7-3-0-0 record in 10 games along with a leaguelead­ing 1.67 goals-againstave­rage. Fisher finished tied for the league's best save percentage (.944) with Kegan Greencorn of the Basin Armada of Bedford.

The league's all-star team included Jenkins, Greencorn, Ty Hunter of the Fundy Thunder, Brady MacNeil of the Cabot Highlander­s, Jack Broderick of the ChiroCare Kings, and AJ Metlej of the Admirals of St. Margarets Bay.

Along with the awards, the league announced the cancellati­on of its championsh­ip series between the Port Hawkesbury-based Cabot Highlander­s and Sacvilleba­sed ChiroCare Kings due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
