SYDNEY — A Dominion man facing multiple breaches of his release conditions has been denied bail.

James Robert Osmond Berthiaume, 53, of Breigh Park is charged with 17 counts of breach and a single count of possession of cocaine. The offences are alleged to have occurred between March and June.

Also outstanding for Berthiaume are charges of threatening a police officer and three counts of breaching his release conditions that are alleged to have occurred March 5.

He was scheduled to be sentenced Thursday on charges of possession of a firearm knowing he had no licence (a 3.03 rifle), careless use of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and breaching a court order.

The offences occurred in Ben Eoin in October 2020. However, sentencing was adjourned and Berthiaume is now scheduled to return to provincial court June 16 for a status report on his case particularly whether he’s been able to secure a new lawyer.

The bulk of the 17 counts of breach allegations relate to contacting alleged members of the Outlaws motorcycle gang.

When released last year, Berthiaume was ordered not have no contact with 17 people, many of whom are alleged to be members of the Outlaws.
