No new COVID cases for second time in three days

HALIFAX — For the second time in three days, Nova Scotia reported no new cases of COVID-19, although one more person with the virus has been moved to an intensive care unit on Wednesday.

The number of active cases is down by 14 to 60, but while there were two people in hospital and no one in the intensive care unit Tuesday, both numbers increased by one on Wednesday.

"We wouldn't be where we are today without the co-operation and hard work of Nova Scotians," Premier Iain Rankin said in a release. "I understand the restrictio­ns are hard, but given the risks with the Delta variant, they are needed to protect Nova Scotians as we continue to work get people fully vaccinated with two doses of vaccine."

Nova Scotia Health Authority's labs completed 3,490 tests on Tuesday.

As of Tuesday, 808,713 doses of COVID-19 vaccine had been administer­ed, with 112,328 Nova Scotians receiving their second dose.

"Our case numbers have been very promising the past few days," said Nova Scotia's chief medical officer of health, Dr. Robert Strang. "Thank you for continuing to look after each other by continuing to follow public health measures, getting tested regularly and getting vaccinated."

Since reporting 11 new cases last Friday, the province has only had 10 positive test results.
