Three COVID cases in eastern zone

-

HALIFAX — The latest new COVID-19 case count in Nova Scotia is four, Nova Scotia Health reported on Monday.

Three cases are in eastern zone. Two are under investigation and the other is a close contact of a previously reported case.

The other case is in central zone and is under investigation.

The current total number of active cases in the province is 57, with two people recovering from the virus in hospital and no one in ICU.

Also on Monday, Nova Scotia Health announced that recipients of a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine on or before May 30 and who are scheduled for a second dose on or before Sept. 12 can now reschedule their appointments for earlier dates.

Notification emails with a rescheduling notice will be going out up until the end of the day on Wednesday. The province has reduced the second dose interval from 35 days to 28 days.

“Vaccine uptake continues to be high, but we are aiming to have at least 85 per cent of eligible Nova Scotians vaccinated,” said Premier Iain Rankin in Monday's announcement.

“If you have not yet received your COVID-19 vaccine, it is important to get your first dose as soon as possible to protect your loved ones and your community.”

Anyone who did not provide an email at their time of booking, or does not receive a notice, can call the tollfree line at 1-833-797-7772 to reschedule, or submit an email address to receive the rescheduling notice.

Those who have not yet received a vaccination can book online at novascotia. ca/coronavirus/book-yourvaccination-appointment/ or by phone at 1-833-797-7772.

Appointments must be booked by these methods, clinics cannot book appointments themselves and walkins will be turned away.

On June 27, Nova Scotia Health Authority's labs completed 3,029 tests.
