Recount set for Glace Bay-Dominion
GLACE BAY — Elections Nova Scotia is recounting votes in the closely contested Glace Bay-Dominion electoral district at the request of a provincial candidate.
Elections Nova Scotia announced the judicial recount on Wednesday.
NDP candidate John Morgan made the application for the recount, according to Elections N.S.
The initial results from the Glace Bay-Dominion riding in the Aug. 17 provincial election showed PC candidate John White clinching a narrow win with 2,759 votes — 35 per cent of the vote — over runner-up Morgan who received 34 per cent or 2,726 votes.
Liberal incumbent John McCarthy received 31 per cent of the vote, with 2,480 votes.
The recount will take place at the Sydney Justice Centre on Monday at 9:30 a.m.
The deadline to apply for a judicial recount was Aug. 23.
