COADY, Andrew David

-

Bras d’Or

Born September 30, 1936 to Frankie and Joe Coady, David became part of a large family, the 4th of 9 children. He spent his formative years in the village of Bras d’Or and subsequently moved to Toronto, where he operated Six Points TV and Radio. In his retirement David valued his part-time employment as an elementary school bus driver. He recently returned and spent a cherished month in his beloved Cape Breton prior to his demise on August 23, 2021. David was predeceased by his longtime partner, Velma Somerton, who passed in January, 2021. He was also predeceased by siblings, Cas, Doreen and Vince while survived by Joe, Art, Lalie, Trish and John. David thoroughly enjoyed getting together with his siblings and extended family be it at a family reunion or similar celebration over his many years. He also took great pleasure in meeting with his old friends whenever visiting Cape Breton, most likely sharing a pint or two at the Blue Mist in Bras d’Or. On the lighter side, once David earned his driver’s license, Cape Breton became his domain as he would explore far and wide as long as fuel lasted; he could find the most circuitous route to Sydney imaginable. This passion remained throughout his life. David was a jovial loving soul who possessed a keen sense of humor, loved to tell stories and enjoyed a good practical joke whether played against him or by him against others, this being quite common in the Coady family. David will be lovingly remembered by his siblings, extended family and many friends. Details of date, location and time for a celebration of David’s life will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in David’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Words of comfort may be forwarded to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
