With broken hearts we announce the passing of our wonderful wife, mother, grandmothe­r and great grandmothe­r Pauline Francis, who passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Pauline was born December 26, 1951 in Sydney, N.S. She was the daughter of late Bridget and Noel Denny. Pauline was the grand-daughter of the inherited grand chief John Denny Sr., John Denny Jr., and her grandfathe­r was Captain Simon Denny. Pauline is survived by her husband, Andrew ‘Mooney’ Francis; sons, Sheldon (Jane), Joll (Erin); daughters, recently deceased late, Colleen (late Roy), Heather (Gub), Myrna (Larry), Corrine (Harvey), Lydia (Chuck), and Ander (Keegan) also, one miscarriag­e. Pauline also raised two of her grandchild­ren, Kateri and Andon and two nieces, Coreena and Claudia. Pauline is survived by numerous grandchild­ren, great-grandchild­ren, and godchildre­n. Pauline is also survived by her best friend for over fifty years Diddley Denny. Pauline is with her precious grandchild­ren, Justine, Kateri, Leondra and Hailey who also made their way to the spirit world. She is also predecease­d by brothers; Roland, Sap, Ira, Alonzo (Mona), Bo (Janet), Bullie, Simon (Kim); and sisters,

Martha (9 months old), Mary Jane (Steve), Miney (Ernest), Yvonne (Joe), Verna (Roger), Elsa, and Archie. Pauline had a strong Catholic faith and was a member of Holy Family Parish. Pauline also organized services at Eskasoni Holy Family Parish for those that could not attend Chapel Island St. Anne Pilgrimage Mission for several years. Pauline participat­ed in the Nova Scotia Summer Games and loved sports such as archery, horseshoes, and high jumping. One of her hobby’s included beadwork. She had made regalia for her two youngest children, Ander and Joll when they were younger. She was a great story teller and always shared her stories. Pauline was a Foster Parent and she opened her home and fostered many children. The family would like to thank the following department­s

that took care of their mother: Dialysis clinic, Palliative Care, Eskasoni Health Center staff: Home Care Workers and Registered Nurses. Pauline was also well cared for by her granddaugh­ter, Keedan and called her nurse ’jij and her Pisun (medicine). Visitation for Pauline will begin on Sunday, September 12, 2021, after 7 p.m., at the Gabriel Center, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr.
