Cape Breton hockey players playing at QMJHL Cup

-

SYDNEY, N.S. — Two Cape Breton hockey players are taking part in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Cup this week in Boisbriand, Que.

Forward Campbell MacIntyre of Mabou and goaltender Owen Bresson of Dominion will be members of Team Green for the event, which began on Wednesday at the Centre d'excellence Sports Rousseau.

The QMJHL Cup is a competition that will regroup the top 40 prospects from the Atlantic provinces, who will be split into two separate teams, as well as the top 80 prospects from Quebec, who will be assigned to four different squads.

The event comes more than two months prior to the QMJHL Entry Draft, which is slated for July 4 and 5. Like the previous two years, the draft will be held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, Cape Breton West Islanders forward Riley Sampson of Harve Boucher will also be part of the tournament-style event. He will also be a member of Team Green.
