STUBBERT, Helen Florence
It is with saddened hearts that we the family of Helen Florence Stubbert announce the unexpected passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Sunday, May 8, 2022. Born on November 2, 1932, to the late James and Isabel (Welshman) MacGregor of North Sydney. Helen is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved
husband, Orville; daughter, Valerie and her husband Jerry; 2 children in infancy, Patricia and Orville; daughter-in-law, Annette; brothers, Laughlin, Robert and
Joseph; and sister, Margaret. Helen was a long-time member of the United Church of Canada worshipping at Carman in Sydney Mines and
was a strong woman of faith. She devoted herself to her family, especially her grandchildren, enjoying time spent together especially on a walk or a drive. Besides her family, her other passion was gardening, and she was never happier than when she was planting or tending something in her garden. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her children, David (Theresa), Diane (Ricky) Gerrow, Craig (Rita), Bruce, Barbara (Alex) Devoe and Paula (Michael) Johnston; grandchildren, Maria,
Tania, David, Rodney, Robert, Jason, Amanda, Bradley,
Christopher, Nicole, Melanie, Sarah and Joshua as; well as several great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her sister-inlaw, Yvonne Johnston. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 7-9 p.m., in Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, 8 Clyde Ave., Sydney Mines with a funeral service taking place at Carman United Church, 1 Clyde Ave at 2 p.m., on Friday, May 13, with Rev. Nick Phillips officiating. Masks are required in
the church. Interment to follow in Lakeside Cemetery.
