SLADE, Billy "Slick" GlaceBay

-

It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, brother, grandfather and friend, Billy

Slade, age 65, on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at the An Cala Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving

family. Born in Glace Bay, on May 12, 1957, Billy was the son of the late Clarence and Jeanette (Donovan) Slade. Billy was certainly “one-of-akind”. An avid jokester and prankster, Billy took great pride in making family and

friends laugh all the time; you wouldn’t know what to expect next. He had a tremendous sense of humour, amazing wit and sarcasm. Billy was an avid pool player, dart shooter, tarabish player, slow-pitch ball player and loved his Detroit Red Wings. Billy spent over 35 years bartending and slinging beer in various bars in Glace Bay and New Waterford and certainly enjoyed every minute of it; meeting lots of friends along the way. Billy is survived by his son Chad (Jade), daughter Deborah (Trevor) and grandchildren, Addeyson and Kristen. He is also survived by brothers, Connie (Della), Dave (Sandra), Vic (Ann Marie), Blair (Tanya) and sisters, Debbie (Roger) and Angel (Mike). Also surviving is his uncle; who was like a

“Brother”, Andrew, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Billy was predeceased by his daughter, Terry Lynn and brother George. Billy will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to sincerely thank his friends at MacDonald Lane Seniors

Complex, Judy, Shirley and Mae for being there every step of the way; your caring and kindness made Billy’s life much easier ... "Thank You for all you have done.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to many health-care providers who compassionately cared for Billy during the past several years. Special thanks to his Home care workers, VON and Hospice/Palliative Care Cape Breton. Cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. As per Billy’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral. Burial will take place in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wallace Road, Glace Bay on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022 at 11 a.m. with graveside prayers; all are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Billy’s memory to the Glace Bay Food Bank. Online condolences to the family can be
