BINNS, Eugene "Binner"

It is with heavy hearts we announce the loss of a dear husband, father, grandfathe­r, great grandfathe­r, brother, uncle and friend Eugene “Binner” Binns, January 17, 2023 at the Northside General Hospital. Born November, 1933 he was a son of Edward and Annie “Jane” Binns. He was a devoted family man who spent 42 years with Mar Tel & Tel, a pioneer who embraced many changes in communicat­ions. Dad loved to skate, was an avid reader and a great story teller. He enjoyed being the taxi taking Mom to card games and charming the ladies there. Dad had a sweet tooth, always sharing chocolates and was known as the chocolate soldier. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Gena (MacGillivr­ay) Binns; daughters, Anna (Roger) Travis, Kathy (Lindsay) Hood, and April (David) Britten; sons, Peter (Curt) (Lilly Tan), Bob (Justine Fennell), and Reggie (Cindy); brother, Frank Binns; and sister, Mae Beaton. Eugene also leaves behind 17 grandchild­ren, 11 great grandchild­ren, many nieces and nephews and his special buddy Kenny McLeod. Eugene is predecease­d by mother, Annie “Jane” (MacGillivr­ay) Binns Coady; father, Edward Binns; step father, Peter Coady; daughter, Beverly McLeod; grandsons, Peter McLeod and Dean Binns; granddaugh­ter, Holly Binns; brother, Edward Binns; and sister, Mary Lou MacPhee. There will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan 21st at 11a.m. at St. Theresa’s Church with Fr. Evo DiPierro officiatin­g. A reception will follow at St. Theresa’s Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Theresa’s building fund, Mass for Shut Ins or a charity of choice. The family would like to thank CB Regional Hospital and the Northside General Hospital for their care and compassion of Dad while hospitaliz­ed, we will always be grateful for Dr. Greg Myatt, Janice and Laura for the many years of care afforded to Dad, also to the staff of TW Curry for their guidance during this difficult time.
