The family of Carolyn Hall-dolomont sadly announce her passing on Tuesday, May, 7, 2024 at Harbourvie­w Hospital, Sydney Mines.

Born in Sydney Mines on March 25, 1937, she was the eldest daughter of the late Richard (Dick) and Marguerite (Macneil) Hall of Sydney Mines. Carolyn was a life-long parishione­r of Immaculate Conception Parish in Sydney Mines. She attended Notre Dame School and graduated from Sydney Mines High in 1955. She attended Empire Business College in Sydney and began employment with HFC in North Sydney. She worked in North Sydney for 14 years until she attended Summer School in Halifax in the Business Education Program.

Carolyn began her teaching career at Sydney Mines High School. She loved to skate, dance, curl, bowl, and especially watch Œgure skating while following the careers of the various skaters. She was a member of the Sydney Curling Club for many years.

While teaching at SMH, she was also a teacher advisor to the girls curling program. When the sta‘ moved to Memorial High in 1976, Carolyn continued teaching Business Ed until she retired in 1994. Carolyn wished that “her girls” would stay in the area, Œnd employment, and raise their families on the Northside. After retiring, she volunteere­d in the Palliative Care Program at the regional hospital for 17 years.

Carolyn is survived by her sister, Ann Francis Gillis (Michael), Sydney; stepson, Kenneth Dolomont (Carla), East Lawrenceto­wn; she is also survived by nieces, Judith Lawrie (Allister), and Jennifer Hall-hughes; nephews, Shaun (Mavs) Gillis, Ryan Gillis and Kenneth Hall; several grandniece­s and nephews; sisters-in-law, Christine Hall, Halifax, Kathleen Colpitts, Bedford, Jean Hatcher and Marjorie Lanford, Port Hawkesbury, Judy Day, Frenchvale and Monika Dolomont of Ontario; brothers-in-law, Michael (Valeria), New Harris, Tom (Carol) Halifax.

Besides her parents, Carolyn was predecease­d by her husband and best friends, Jim ( JR) Dolomont; brother, Richard; and brothers-in-law, Ron Colpitts, John Langford, Donald and Robert Dolomont, Clayton Hatcher, and George Day. Visitation for Carolyn Hall-dolomont will take place on Monday, May 13, 2024, from 7-9 p.m. in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. The funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 11 a.m. in Holy Family Church, with Fr. Angus Macdougall oŸciating. A reception will follow in the parish hall. Carolyn Hall-dolomont and Jim ( JR) Dolomont’s burial will occur directly following the funeral mass in Holy Cross Cemetery. Family ¢owers only.
