TRUCKAIR (MURPHY), Esther Marie

Age 75, of Glace Bay, passed away on May 8, 2024, in Sydney after losing her battle with lymphoma for which she fought to the end. Esther was born on January 20, 1949, to Moses and Georgina (Macpherson) Murphy of Reserve Mines, N.S. Esther lived in Reserve Mines until she married Bob Truckair (deceased) and moved to Glace Bay where she raised her family. She was a reliable source of support to family, friends, and neighbors. Esther would always listen, and her door was always open. It did not matter who the boys brought home, be it through school, sports, Šshing or whatever, she was always glad to welcome them into her home; she made sure they had a meal and a place to sleep. Her kindness and generosity were immeasurable. Esther was also an avid reader, and a wonderful cook, and her presence will be missed tremendously. Esther enjoyed sewing when her kids were small, and she made her boys, sister and nieces participate in fashion shows with her creations. Esther soon became famous for her Šsh and chips which were basically made daily in the Truckair household, and of course with Bob Šshing cod and haddock the Šsh was always fresh and plentiful. Esther’s joy in later years came with the arrival of her four grandchildren that she loved dearly, and lord help you if you said a cross-word to those children. Esther was a Šerce protector of her family, especially her grandchildren whom she constantly told that she loved them. There was nothing better than a hug from Esther which was embraced with all her love. Esther is survived by her sons Bobby (Chopper) (daughter in law Tanyia), Dennis, and Bradley, all of Glace Bay; grandchildren Logan ( Jolene), Chelsey (Brad), Nicholas, and Mason, with whom she had a special bond; great-grandchildren Nova, Arminius, and Tate; siblings Gloria (Greg), Joe, Darlene, Mary (Skookie), Barney, Leona; brothers in law Joe, Wesley (Helen), sister in law Brenda, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who she treated as her own, and a huge circle of friends who were of great comfort and support to Esther. Esther is preceded in death by her husband Bob, her parents Mose and Georgina Murphy, in law Lambert and Elsie (Macleod) Truckair, sister Ellie Mae, and three sisters in infancy, brothers in law, Alex, Danny, Gordie, and Roger. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Glace Bay. Cremation has taken place, and a graveside service will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Words of comfort may be expressed to Esther’s family by visiting:
