Husband, father, brother, uncle, Nick passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, May 6, 2024, with his beloved wife, Marina at his side. Beloved father to Nicole, Marissa ( Jason), Jared and Joe.
Born in Elst, (Gld) Holland on August 10, 1955, Nick was the son of Jacobus and Antonia Sanders. From Holland to Oshawa, Whitby, Fort McMurray, Nick made his way to Georges River for his retirement home. Nick could be seen on his Kubota in the middle of a snowstorm, plowing his way around the block. He only wanted to do the best for his community, friends, and family. He will always be remembered for his love of life, hockey, travel, and motorcycles. He was the best of us all.
Nick is also survived by his brothers, Hans, Jack (Doris), Aloys (Annie), Jozef (Sonja), Roland (Cory), Paul; sisters, Liesbeth Sluys, Wilma ( John) Kowalczyk. He was number six of a very large group of siblings. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Lawrence Leblanc; sisters-in-law, Heidi and Heather Leblanc and Mona Gagnon; brother-in-law, David Leblanc; many nieces and nephews.
Nick was predeceased by his sisters, Maria and Madeleine; by brothers-in-law, Paul, Larry, Donald, Kevin and Mike Leblanc, along with Mike Sluys; sisters-in-law, Charlotte and Tammy LEBlanc.
There will be a visitation for Nick from 2-4 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2024 at W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A Celebration of Life will be in Ontario at a later date. In lieu of owers, (because of allergies to scents) donations can be made to Kidsport Canada.
