School athletes from across Cape Breton gathered at the Atlantic Street Field in Sydney on Monday to compete in a School Sport Nova Scotia track and field competition. Monday’s event was the first of four that will take place across the island and featured 400 athletes. Overall, 15 events took place on Monday in sprints, jumps and throws. The top eight finishers in each event will advance to the Highland Region championships, which will take place May 24-25 at the Cape Breton Health Recreation Complex in Sydney.
