London Drugs reopens phone lines and Canada Post outlets

-

London Drugs says its phone lines are working again, days after being taken offline in response to a cybersecurity incident.

A statement from the Richmond, B.C.-based phar‐ macy and retail chain also says Canada Post offices in‐ side its stores are up and running again.

The company closed all of its stores across Western Canada until further notice after the incident was discov‐ ered on Sunday.

The statement says the stores remain closed out of an abundance of caution but customers are still being provided with urgent phar‐ macy care.

It also says London Drugs is rebuilding its data infra‐ structure with the help of leading third-party experts to bring its operations safely back online.

London Drugs says there are billions of lines of data and code to review, but its teams have been working around the clock and there is progress.

The company's statement says its investigation so far shows no evidence that cus‐ tomer databases have been compromised, including for pharmacy patients and its LDExtra members.

It says the impact of the breach on operations has been significant, and the restoration process is rigor‐ ous.

Company president Clint Mahlman says they are de‐ termining if they can reopen with partial service in order to take care of customers sooner, especially those who need prescriptions.

"The outpouring of cus‐ tomer and supplier support and their understanding that has been shown to all of us at London Drugs is so appre‐ ciated as we work to reopen from this cybersecurity inci‐ dent in a methodical, safe and responsible way, that protects all customers and our London Drugs commu‐ nity," Mahlman says.
