Quebec Tartan

The Gaspé region of Quebec now has its own official tartan. The tartan was a joint effort by bagpiper Benoît Poulin and kilt-maker Patrice MacLeod. Although MacLeod has retired from commercial kiltmaking, he maintains a passion for tartans and what they mean for cultural pride. As a starting point, Poulin and MacLeod looked to the unofficial Gaspé flag (designed by Marc-Antoine Deroy in 2001) as inspiration. Once the design was complete, it was sent to be evaluated by the Scottish Register of Tartans. The tartan is now part of the public domain.
