Infinity Mirrored Room – Let’s Survive Together Ongoing
After a hugely successful run last year, one dazzling Yayoi Kusama installation – a reflective selfie room with a bounty of silver orbs – will become a permanent feature at the AGO. It’s the first time a Canadian gallery has purchased a contemporary artwork through a massive crowdfunding campaign, so at this one, expect to see, well, crowds.

If a visual of a Black man in a hoodie doesn’t scream “fine art” to you, perhaps that’s because fine art has a representation problem. At this solo Power Plant show, London artist Thomas J Price aims to change that. Take his monumental cast-bronze sculpture Cover Up (The Reveal), which use a traditional medium to represent an overlooked – yet highly stereotyped – body.

Toronto Outdoor Art Fair Jul 12-14
For one weekend, Nathan Phillips Square turns into the largest open-air art market in the country, with over 360 emerging and established artists showcasing and selling their work to the public. Meet local talents like Moira Ness, whose blunt black-and-white photographs of empty GTHA streets, taken at night, won her best in show this year.

This is Serious: Canadian Indie Comics To Jan 5
Although cartooning and indie comics have a rich and varied history in Canada – with hot spots in Toronto, Montreal and Hamilton – galleries and museums have been slow to celebrate the art form. This exhibition of work from 47 Canadian cartoonists and illustrators seeks to redress that void, showcasing panels chock full of vigorous, graphic stories.

It’s Alive! Classic Horror & Sci-fi Art Jul 13-Jan 5
If you’ve got a soft spot for B movies, drive-ins and… Metallica, then this ROM exhibition of 20th-century movie posters from the collection of heavy metal guitarist Kirk Hammett is for you. Other famous headliners here include Dracula, Frankenstein’s monster and the creature from the black lagoon (all in harmless 2D form).
