Amala’s house-designed artisanal rugs made with vegetable-based dyes in Nepalese wool and Thai silk pop against this whitewashed industrial showroom. This tucked-away Annex shop stocks avant-garde floor coverings and wallpaper that’s otherwise impossible to find. It’s the exclusive Canadian retailer of Object Carpet’s commercial-grade rugs, carpet tiles and wallto-wall in an array of effects and textures – even crazy shags. Its latest innovation is made with 100 per cent recycled Econyl yarn manufactured from fishing nets. Creative Matters

For 31 years, CM has worked with interior designers and architects to create one-of-akind floor coverings for stylish environments around the world. Just a stone’s throw from the AGO, the art gallery–like space highlights Jan Kath’s fibrous masterpieces – photorealistic galaxies and highway billboards, partially “erased” Iranian Bidjars – all hand-knotted in artisan communities around the world. Designs can be made to order in various combinations of colours and fibres.
