MIDWEST DIESEL & AUTO’S ’15+ TURBO SYSTEM FOR ’11-14 POWER STROKES
Thanks to eight years of production and a verifiable track record under its belt, Ford’s 6.7L Power Stroke has proven itself much more reliable than the 6.0L and 6.4L engines that preceded it. Still, like any engine, the all-ford V8 has its drawbacks—namely, failure of the Garrett GT32 SST turbo on ’11-14 trucks and a Bosch CP4.2 that’s more inclined to wear than a comparable CP3.
After accumulating a quick and uneventful 200,000 miles, the owner of this ’12 F-250 decided to keep his 6.7L Power Stroke for the long haul. For ultimate peace of mind in pursuing another 200K, he wanted a couple of weak links addressed before they ever had a chance of becoming a problem. First, the restrictive factory turbo would be replaced with the Gt37-based charger found on ’15 and newer trucks, courtesy of a Midwest Diesel & Auto Premium Retrofit Kit. Then, the original CP4.2 would be replaced with the higher flowing version found on the ’15-17 Super Duty.
With the truck left in the capable hands of Flynn’s Shop in Alexander, Illinois, the install commenced, and once everything was bolted on and the PCM re-flashed, the upgraded parts had yielded somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 to 120 additional horsepower. If you rely on your ’11-14 Super Duty on a daily basis, this is a great way to keep your trusty workhorse reliable while also adding some extra giddy-up to its bottom line.
