THE FARMHAND
of PPE’S high-flow exhaust manifolds and 2-inch up-pipes, HSP’S 3-inch downpipe, and a 0.91 A/R turbine housing on the S366 SX-E, drive pressure checks in 50-percent lower than it would with a Vvt-based charger. Boost is limited to just over 40 psi thanks to spot-on EFI Live tuning from Duramaxtuner.com.
Moderate Fueling Mods
Stepping up the fuel side of the equation, Du Pre opted for a 10mm “stroker” CP3 from S&S Diesel Motorsport in place of the factory pump, which was matched with a set of S&S 60 percent over injectors. The 10mm, 60 percent over combination is capable of supporting 800 rwhp with the right turbo, which Du Pre has, but in order to keep the factory bottom end alive he had Duramaxtuner pull roughly 75hp worth of fuel out of the truck’s max-effort calibration. A 165gph Airdog II-4G system provides ample fuel supply for the CP3 at all times.
Second-hand Allison
After catching wind that fellow truck puller John Thompson was bolting a manual transmission behind his ’08 LMM, Du Pre got a heck of a deal on a competition-ready Allison. Assembled by Illini Outlaw Diesel, the six-speed A1000 benefits from a Suncoast Stage 5 rebuild kit, billet input shaft, and select other internals. To get the most out of the fixed-geometry turbo, the initial converter was replaced with a 2,200rpm stall, triple-disc unit from Goerend Transmission. Having scored an already-built transmission rather than having the truck’s original Allison beefed-up, Du Pre was able to invest money in other mods.
