MAKE THAT 24V CUMMINS A BEAST

QUADZILLA ADRENALINE IS BACK —BETTER THAN EVER.

Everyone loves new technology. Whether it’s a brand-new truck or a 20-year-old beater you’re still driving around, advancements in computercontrolled systems have been able to take engine performance to all-new heights.

With the newest common rail-injected engines all the rave these days, it’s easy for the older stuff to get forgotten. The 1998.5– 2002 Dodge was becoming one of them. The 5.9L 24V engine was the first to get electronic fuel injection from Cummins, along with the Bosch VP44 injection pump and controller, and was a decent performer back in the day. In stock form, it held its own against 7.3L Power Stroke and LB7 Duramax competition in the light-duty diesel market back then.

It didn’t take long for the aftermarket to figure out how to squeeze more power out of them. With some mild chip upgrades, bigger injectors and upgraded turbos, they made really good power. The VP44 injection pump does have some issues with reliability if it doesn’t get good fuel supply and constant fuel pressure under load. However, during its production run, computer technology was advancing quickly, and performance tuning worked really well for that new 24V engine.

Common Rail Road Block

When Cummins released the common rail-injected motors in 2003, the VP44 trucks were quickly getting passed on to the used market as owners were replacing them with the latest and greatest third-gen trucks from Dodge. Within a few years, the performance market for the VP44 trucks went a little stale. Sure, there were still plenty of aftermarket bolt-ons available for them, and you could build a pretty strong-running truck with the right combination of parts; but the new computer technology with shift-on-the-fly tuning, wireless control and in-cab touchscreen functionality just wasn’t readily available for the 98.5–02 trucks ... until the folks at Quadzilla Power got back in the game.

Based out of Layton, Utah, Quadzilla has been working hard to bring the best of today’s technology to the 24V 5.9L platform. Its latest version Adrenaline iquad module is unlike any other on the market.
