Sara Says...
“Think global, eat local.” This has been the motto of Ed Ho for years, and his menus are consistently reflective of it. His award-winning VQA menu offers one of the largest Ontario wine selections in Toronto. Each dish comes with a VQA recommendation. A salad of roasted butternut squash with creamy pressed yogurt and crispy shallots is a mélange of bold flavours and textures that is complemented by a bright Tawse Winery Riesling. Generously portioned veal cheek, braised 12 hours to ultimate tenderness, lightly breaded and lavished with tangy Wiser’s purée, mingles with Monforte Toscano, and pairs with a flirty Hidden Bench Rosé. Popular on the menu is halibut and lobster, but I’m drawn to the Wellington County tenderloin with smoked marrow ravioli and Northern Woods mushroom jus. Such rich, juicy flavours require Megalomaniac’s Cabernet Sauvignon. We are told that wine bottles are half-price on Sundays, and glasses are half-price for the after-work crowd, along with buck-a-shuck oysters. Globe has had a makeover to embrace the Earth. See you on the rooftop patio with tostadas and wine!
