You may not be familiar with Polk County in Central Florida. But once you visit this corner of Florida, you’ll never forget it.
You’re only 45 minutes from Tampa International Airport and Orlando’s famous theme parks. Yet you’d never know it. Polk County boasts more than 550 lakes, over 600 kilometres of nature trails, and numerous safe, walkable towns featuring locally owned restaurants and shops. In fact, it might surprise you to learn the county has a world-famous theme park of its own.

However, LEGOLAND isn’t the only great attraction in Central Florida. Named one of the 10 best wildlife safaris in the U.S. by Fodor.com, Safari Wilderness features 105 hectares of tropical landscapes where you can tour by kayak, camel or safari vehicle as you view exotic species and get up close and personal with lemurs and budgies at feeding time. Surrounded by lush tropical gardens, the 62-metre neo-gothic Singing Tower at Bok Tower Gardens features 60 bells ranging in weight from 16 pounds to 12 tons. Performances happen daily at 1 and 3 p.m.
Believe it or not, the world’s largest collection of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture is right here in Lakeland on the campus of Florida Southern College. The collection features 13 buildings designed by Wright, the latest of which was finished only six years ago.
