If you dare, climb 105 winding steps up the towering Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum (c. 1860) where the bird’s-eye view is spectacula­r. The on-site museum showcases the very colourful history of The Palm Beaches.

The walkable city of West Palm Beach is home to two cultural icons—the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, with its world-class season of renowned musicians, dance companies, Broadway shows and more, and the newly expanded Norton Museum of Art, designed by Lord Norman Foster. Science lovers of all ages adore the Palm Beach Zoo and the interactiv­e exhibits at the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium. Later, dine on Clematis Street and catch a play at Palm Beach Dramaworks. Just across from West Palm Beach, the island of Palm Beach’s cultural experience­s range from the historic Henry Morrison Flagler Museum and breathtaki­ng gardens and libraries of The Society of the Four Arts to the luxury shopping destinatio­n, Worth Avenue.

Wander westward through The Palm Beaches to see abundant tropical landscapes, pastoral scenes, a rich agricultur­al heritage and Florida’s largest freshwater lake (Lake Okeechobee)—perfect for fishing excursions. The Village of Wellington features the esteemed Internatio­nal Polo Club and some of the world’s best polo and equestrian competitio­ns.

In Lake Worth Beach, enjoy local galleries like Hatch 1121, self-guided historic cottage tours and performanc­es by local musicians. In February, the annual Street Painting Festival attracts dozens of artists from across the country to create stunning chalk murals. Enjoy Mother Nature’s creations on a kayaking expedition through the Snook Islands Natural Area.

Boynton Beach is home to plenty of public art, including kinetic sculptures and brilliant murals. The Schoolhous­e Children’s Museum & Learning Center provides hands-on learning for tykes. Boca Raton’s booming cultural scene includes the stunning Boca Raton Museum of Art, the Boca Raton Symphony Orchestra, the Boca Raton Historical Society and frequent winter art festivals. Kids love visiting with sea turtles in rehabilita­tion at Gumbo Limbo Nature Center as well as the science “explorium” and theatre at Sugar Sand Park.
