Laina Mcwhorter is a street pho­tog­ra­pher, ac­tivist, vagabond, mom, wannabe rock star and a re­ally, re­ally big nerd. She has jour­neyed to the Grand Cay­man Is­lands, Canada, Mex­ico, Bali and 48 out of 50 of the United States of Amer­ica with her cam­era. Laina’s art­work has ap­peared in a va­ri­ety of publi­ca­tions and me­dia out­lets in­clud­ing HBO’S orig­i­nal TV se­ries En­light­ened star­ring Laura Dern, GSNTV’S hit show Skin Wars, fea­tur­ing Ru Paul, Hawaii 5-0 on CBS TV. Laina spent more than 5 years shoot­ing women’s roller derby as the staff pho­tog­ra­pher of the Ari­zona Roller Derby League, earn­ing her­self the derby name, Trig­ger­happy.

In Jan­uary 2017, Laina be­gan a solo, cross-coun­try road trip to at­tend the Women’s March in Wash­ing­ton, D.C. this col­lec­tion of pho­tos rep­re­sent Laina’s unique view on ev­ery­day Amer­ica.
