Bosch’s New Smart System for 2022
Bosch unveiled their next generation Smart System for 2022, designed to improve connectivity for e-bikes with top-shelf technology to enhance the ride experience even after purchase.
The new system consists of Bosch’s new Flow app and LED Remote control unit, a PowerTube 750Wh battery, their biggest to date, and the company’s top-of-the-line Performance Line CX drive unit.
The Flow app is the key to the Smart System and includes new functions with over-the-air updates, allowing users to record their personal ride and fitness data or customize their riding modes, while viewing other important data from battery charge status to the next service appointment via the home screen. The new app also allows increased theft protection via ConnectModule. The Flow app is currently available in German, English, and French with additional languages to follow. Additional features will be added in the future.
The LED Remote control unit connects your e-bike to the Flow app via Bluetooth. Highly visible in sunlight, it’s easy to read in varying light and weather conditions, as the display adapts to ambient light. It also allows you to call up important ride data to your smartphone and share your ride info with others. In addition, the LED Remote acts as a guide to make operation easier while in walk mode.
With 20% greater range, the PowerTube 750 is ideal for challenging rides, making it easy to conquer long distances and significant variations in altitude. It integrates seamlessly into the downtube and is equipped with a Bosch Battery Management System which protects the battery cells from overload. The 4A charger is compact to carry on-the-go and takes six hours for a full charge, or up to 50% in two hours.
The robust Kiosk 300 bike-mounted display provides all important data and stays current via over-the-air updates. Access fitness data or optimize personal training, with more features and new functions accessed via the Flow app. Operation via the LED Remote is simple and visually supported by animations and images. Dust and waterresistant, the colour display features optimum readability day and night.
The Smart System currently includes Bosch’s Performance Line CX with more drive units to follow. The 85Nm of torque makes this a great choice for powerful acceleration after tight turns, taking obstacles at a low cadence, starting up on a hill, or supporting high cadences for fast sprints. The CX also features eMTB mode for a true mountain bike connection and intuitive handling on a variety of terrain without the need to switch modes.
