LAMBTON COUNTY, ONTARIO

-

Ontario’s Blue Coast in Lambton County has it all. The region’s crown jewel is the 35km St. Clair River Trail with stunning natural beauty and views from a familyfriendly, primarily off-road paved route.

Explore a bio-diverse Carolinian Climate Zone including Brander Park Woodlot, the quaint Sombra Museum featuring the 1881 Bury House with eight rooms of fully furnished history.

Looping through Lambton will help you navigate a flat 262km 4-day selfguided tour for cyclists of moderate to expert level. Visit historic sections of the

Underground Railroad Bicycle Route, share St. Clair River beaches used by Al Capone to smuggle moonshine, or view the Oil Museum of Canada National Historic Site.

The 162km Sarnia-Lambton adventure includes plenty of scenic waterfront riding along the St. Clair

River and the shores of Lake Huron.

Visit the historic towns of Petrolia and

Oil Springs, and discover Sarnia, a waterfront city perched on Lake Huron.

Pedalling the Cheers to the Coast Trail, an emerging cycling favourite, will ensure you’re never far from distinctive craft breweries, award-winning wineries, hard cider distilleries and mead.

Add the Grand Bend option to your loop tour and ride along Lake Huron’s sparkling Blue Flag beaches. Then relax in Pinery Provincial Park where you can access 14 kilometres of paved bike trails for free before connecting to the Grand Bend Rotary Trail. Gravel aficionados can find gravel routes on the ride with a GPS app.

The popular Bluewater International Granfondo continues to exceed participants’ expectations as a professionally run, ultra-scenic, fun event that’s raised more than $200,000 for palliative care education within Sarnia-Lambton.

Voted Ontario’s #1 granfondo, it includes four distances. Grove Route is a family-friendly 30 kilometres — there’s the flat and scenic Sarnia 50K, the Lambton 100K on quiet country roads with three short climbs, and the Bluewater Route 150K for those who love an awesome challenge. Held as a virtual event this year, it hopes to be back in August 2022. For more info, visit https://bigf.ca/.
