Missing cash brings charges
Edmonton / A 21-year-old man has been charged after more than $27,000 went missing from the bank account of an undergraduate student association.
Last week, the Business Students’ Association said in an email sent to students that it became aware in August 2011 that $27,745 was missing from a bank account accessed during the summer. The student allegedly was able to access the bank account alone because of a “bank error in setting up the ATM card privileges when the signing authorities were changed” for the current academic year, the email said.
The man has been charged with theft over $5,000, said police spokesman Chad Orydzuk.
