LRT route raises question

-

In examining the proposed change to the downtown LRT route one aspect is raised that I have yet to see addressed.

Not too long ago the city closed 102A Avenue on the block between City Hall and Churchill Square so that the area would be more pedestrian friendly, especially during festival season, and that the square would not be divided in two by car traffic.

If the LRT line is moved a block north from 102nd Avenue to 102A Avenue, then instead of car traffic dividing the square in two, an LRT train would. Does this not defeat the very purpose for closing that block of 102A Avenue in the first place?
