Hoboken to stay safe from Jersey Shore spinoff

- Jon Dekel Dose. ca

The gyms, tanning beds and laundries of Hoboken, N.J., have just dodged a massive public-safety situation, thanks to their tough-on-crime mayor.

Mayor Dawn Zimmer laid down the law on the proposed Snooki and “Jwoww” Jersey Shore spinoff, denying the producer’s permit request “based on protecting public safety and quality-of-life concerns for Hoboken residents.”

“The city has denied a film permit for a spinoff of the Jersey Shore to be filmed in public locations,” Zimmer wrote.

In a separate letter, the mayor also asserted that she and the city council were surprised to discover that the show’s producers claimed to have made “informal ‘verbal agreements’ involving payments to individuals.”
