William Munsey, Alberta Party Age: 50

Occupation: Locomotive engineer and greenhouse owner Reason for running: “For years Albertans have cried, ‘There are no options.’ I have been working with the Alberta Party since it renewed itself in 2009. I want to give voters an option that is neither right nor left but moderate and accountabl­e to voters.”

Top three priorities: Fairer municipal funding in which more money stays in the communitie­s where it is collected; A legislativ­e assembly where MLAS represent constituen­ts not parties; A thorough examinatio­n of transporta­tion needs — Leduc and Beaumont are two of the fastest-growing communitie­s in Canada, and traffic congestion is a safety and health concern. Hana Razga, NDP Occupation: Retired Reason for running: “I am running because I believe that with Alberta’s great wealth, all of us should be able to enjoy good health care, excellent education, good care for our most vulnerable citizen(s) and we need more voices calling for this in the legislatur­e.”

Top three priorities: “We need to really get on not only with responsibl­e energy developmen­t, but also with actions toward renewable energy” as another source of prosperity; Introduce “a little higher royalties for our natural resources and higher taxes for large corporatio­ns and very wealthy people” to pay for public services; More affordable education.

Top three priorities: Transporta­tion, including a new overpass at 65th Avenue in Leduc to link Port Alberta to Highway 2, twinning of Highway 19, completion of twinning through Beaumont and twinning of Highway 625 (Nisku to Highway 21); Government support for the growth of Port Alberta; New school capacity in Leduc.
