Outdoor fashion show coming to 104th Street Promenade
AL FRE SCO FASHION
Fashion will once again be a part of the biggest neighbourhood block party around — the Al Fresco event on the 104th Street Promenade downtown, coming up on June 9.
Nine local designers will be showcasing their fashions, many of them with studios just steps from the outdoor runway, in the Saddlery building on 104th Street, just north of Jasper.
“It’s great that they could all come together and do a show together,” organizer Janis Galloway says.
Designers include Bridget Smatlan of Fridget Apparal, Derek Jagodzinsky of Luxx, Rachel Bingham of Bang Bang Bijoux jewelry, Mallory Urbanovitch, Cinder and Smoke, Stil Clothing, Sweet Carousel corsets, Beans and Rice aprons and Nicole Campre, who designs locally for both Loft 82 and Oak and Fort.
“It’s really diverse. There’s some young talent mixed with the really solid designers that we know in the city,” Galloway says.
There will also be a fashion alley where designers will set up booths and offer their wares for sale direct from the runway.
The show starts at 6:30 p.m. with a live DJ, on a runway set up on the street.
HIGH LANDS STREET FESTIVAL
Enjoy shopping, music, food, carriage rides and more in historic Highlands this Sunday at the neighbourhood’s annual street festival.
From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., 112th Avenue between 66th and 64th streets will be teeming with activity, including a fun run, a historic walk, demonstrations, art, an outdoor market and a children’s area.

KEY- LIME DOWNTOWN
If you love Key-Lime Athletic Wear but don’t love the drive to Sherwood Park, you’ll be thrilled to hear the popular shop has opened a second location in City Centre downtown.
Owner Kristi Wozniak says the new store opened last week on the main level of City Centre East, across from Winners. It carries all the same, great brands of women’s and girl’s athletic wear as the original store, including Key-Lime’s own, Canadian-made line of clothing, which includes bamboo wear and sizes up to XXL.
“It was just a great opportunity,” Wozniak says. “The market downtown is huge.”
She has divided the large retail space in half: one side sells clothing; the other, which will open in about two weeks, will be a studio for yoga and zumba classes.
TEACHERS G ET AN A+ FOR STYLE

Just show your Alberta Teachers’ Association card Saturday and Sunday to receive the discount at the High Street store, at 12525 102nd Ave.
