Running marathons

- LINDSEY WARD

’Tis the season of marathons. And repeats. And more marathons.

Here’s a look at some of the shows that are going for the (very) long haul today.

Mountain Men: if living simply off the land means trying not to get crushed in an avalanche and competing for dinner against grizzly bears, then is it really all that simple?

No, but it’s interesting (and safer) to watch Eustace Conway, Tom Oar and Marty Meierotto do so from afar. (History — 11 a.m., two hours; 3 p.m., six hours)

Millionaire Matchmaker: Patti Stanger is no stranger to hookups, as you’ll see in the replays of Season 3 and Season 4 episodes of this reality show that melds the promise of The Bachelor with the raunchiness of Blind Date. Six hours. (Slice — 10 a.m.)

Continuum: three hours does not a marathon make, but here’s your chance to catch up on a Canadian-made scifi series that’s making a splash. Word is the one-hour Showcase drama about a cop from 2077 (Rachel Nichols) who searches for future convicts in present-day Vancouver has been picked up in the U.S. and will air there next year.

Meantime, you can see Season 1’s final three episodes tonight. (Showcase — 5 p.m.)

Inked: remember that other reality TV show about a tattoo parlour? The one where Pink’s husband Carey Hart launches the first ink shop located inside a Las Vegas hotel? The one where celebrities like Steve-O show up to get obnoxious markings the average person would regret for life?

Well, here’s a four-hour refresher. (MuchMoreMusic — 10 a.m.)

The Liquidator: haggle-master Jeff Schwarz — a.k.a. The Liquidator — crosses the country searching for hidden treasures in the buy-and-sell world in the half-hour OLN show that’s been renewed for a full, 26-episode third season. (OLN — 7 a.m. & 1:30 p.m.)
